Caleb Dicke has been selected from over 100 choreographers to present work in the Black Box Movers 2026 Spring Choreography Showcase alongside ten other NYC-based choreographers. Together, the selected artists will premiere new theatrical works performed by 107 performers over three evenings at The Riverside Theatre on May 10, 11, and 12 at 7:00 PM.

Caleb will present a reimagined staging of Bye Bye Birdie’s iconic number, A Lot of Livin' to Do — a vibrant, queer-centered take on the classic musical theatre piece. Led by Bobby Ellis as Conrad Birdie and Max Heitmann as Kim MacAfee, the work features eleven additional performers portraying the teens of Sweet Apple, Ohio.

Inspired by the explosive energy of 1950s and 1960s social dance culture, the piece explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and youthful curiosity through a contemporary lens. T

Elliott Mattox serves as Associate Choreographer, with industry mentorship from Richard J. Hinds. The cast also collaborates closely with established music directors Kenneth Gartman to fully develop each number into a true triple-threat theatrical presentation combining dance, live vocals, and storytelling.

The annual showcase unfolds over three consecutive nights. On opening night, invited industry consultants — including producers, directors, choreographers, and other theatre professionals — attend the performances and provide feedback to each creative team. Casts then return to the theatre the following day for an intensive workshop session to apply notes and refine the work before the final two public performances.
